Independent market researchers commissioned by the Build Show quizzed more than 1,000 contractors and builders.
Just over 54% of the respondents claimed they would be likely or very likely to attend the show.
This was despite the fact that 67% of respondents have not attended an industry exhibition within the last two years – and a further 25% could not even name an industry show.
Seeing and trying out new products was the biggest pull for contractors.
Meeting manufacturers and suppliers was also identified as a key attraction, with new innovations, product demonstrations and ‘hands on experiences’ ranked highest among the respondents.
Paul Godwin, Managing Director of the Build Show said: “These are really encouraging results, as they clearly show that there is an appetite for this kind of event among the target audience.
“What’s more, a quarter of the respondents we surveyed said they were surprised there has not been a show specifically for the building and contracting sectors for nearly five years.
“The main theme that kept coming up in the research was that builders and contractors are more than willing to take time off site to attend an industry show – but it has to be worth their while in terms of meeting suppliers and manufacturers, so that they can find our about new products and obtain crucial industry information from a robust seminar programme.
“This is exactly the focus that we have taken with the Build Show and we are working hard to ensure we deliver the most profitable day out our audience will take all year – both for our visitors and our exhibitors.”
The Build Show will take place at the Birmingham NEC from Tuesday 28th to Thursday 30th April 2015.
