Stanion, aged 62, leaves as the Vinci Construction UK business, battles to turn around the building division, after it posted a £33m loss in the last published results for 2013.
The parent group today announced that the French boss of Soletanche Freyssinet has been promoted to take over running the UK construction business.
Bruno Dupety assumed the role this week after the changes were approved by the Vinci main board on Monday.
Dupety (above) began his career as a civil engineer and joined the Vinci group in 1999.
As well as being chairman and chief executive officer of Vinci plc and Vinci Construction UK, Dupety will continue to be international director of Vinci.
