They beat the All Blacks last month and have had the uppper hand over England in their last 11 meetings.

Those stats and the most ferocious set of forwards in world rugby make South Africa the value call at 6/5 to win on Saturday.

But I won’t be sitting among Twickenham’s finest clutching a voucher for the visitors to win.

It just wouldn’t feel right and I’m sure an England defeat won’t be heard of once the pre-match pints start flowing.

The only downside to a day’s rugby is the train queue home from Twickenham where you need zen like bladder control.

Popping into a local pub at five to watch the England football team sweat it out against Slovenia might be the option but it makes little appeal in terms of betting.

Friday night sees the big domestic Euro clash when Scotland take on the Republic of Ireland at Celtic Park.

It should be a great atmosphere and both sides look evenly matched after encouraging starts to their qualification campaign.

On that basis Ireland look the value to me at 11/5 following a great draw in Germany last month.
