Watching West Ham and Everton go at it hammer and tongs on Tuesday was a great night’s entertainment.
Even better was seeing my old man jumping up and down like a teenager after our keeper Adrian performed his heroics to win the penalty shoot-out.
Everything seems bearable after a win like that – the massive queue at the tube station, not getting a seat on the train and even my desert boots breaking after I lazily kicked them off without undoing the laces.
I’m obviously not wandering around the East End like some bare-footed urchin now.
But it would be nice to win a few quid this week to restock the old shoe cupboard.
Man City sunk our double last week with a draw.
Their acquisition of Wilfred Bony looks a great bit of business and they look decent value at 5/2 to eventually overtake Chelsea and regain the title.
That’s one for the future so let’s concentrate on getting back to winning ways this weekend.
We’ll have a crack at a treble with Liverpool the foundation of it away to Aston Villa.
Villa simply can’t score having failed to register a single goal in their last four Premier League matches.
Liverpool meanwhile are running into a bit of form and should be capable of at least a single strike which usually does at Villa Park these days.
Hull have horrific injury problems which should see them swept aside by a West Ham team riding high on their cup success.
Man City complete the treble at home to Arsenal.
Alexis Sanchez is in red-hot form at the moment but even he won’t be able to prevent defeat at a ground where the Gunners have struggled.
That little treble pays out at around the 5/1 mark which should just about keep my feet dry.
