The contractor’s civils arm has also confirmed the go-ahead on a major highways job in Cornwall, while its services business has sealed a £55m housing maintenance contract extension.
The brace of Procure 21+ deals further extend Kier’s position as one of the country’s leading building providers to the health sector and brings its tally of work under the framework to £1.3bn over the last decade.
Under a £63m deal, Kier will redevelop Birmingham Women’s Hospital for the Birmingham Women’s NHS Trust.
This will include a new build clinical block and refurbishment of the existing hospital building.
Kier has also continued a long-running relationship with The York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust to build a £26m new emergency and paediatrics wing at Scarborough Hospital.
Over the last nine years it has completed 20 individual projects for the Trust.
In addition, Kier’s infrastructure business has got the go-ahead to start the £33m highways improvement scheme for the A30 in Cornwall.
The project to the north east of Bodmin will be part-funded and delivered by the council in conjunction with the Highways Agency.
Work to dual the current 2.8-mile single lane section of the trunk road between Temple and Higher Carblake can now begin in March and is expected to be completed in 2017.
Kier’s housing maintenance arm has secured, a five-year extension to the existing repairs and maintenance contract with Barnsley Council covering 9,000 homes.
The contract extension is valued at £55m over the period.
