Sachdev has wide experience in retail and property, after rising to group property director of Sainsbury, following 29 years with Tesco, where he became stores board director.
His appointment follows the retirement of Paul Hipps as Martin’s chairman, who has also retired as a non-executive director.
Tom Martin, managing director, Martin’s Properties, said: “Paul Hipps made an outstanding contribution over the eight years he has worked with the management team.
“Under his able leadership, the potentially difficult transition to a new executive team following the death of my father, Peter Martin in 2009, was accomplished smoothly.
“In the succeeding years, Martins Properties has gone from strength to strength. We are delighted to welcome Neil Sachdev as chairman, as the company seeks to expand its interests across the capital in new London villages where we can invest in vibrant and creative communities.”
