The 22-year-old victim was pronounced dead by paramedics at the Gower View Foods site in Cross Hands, Carmarthenshire.

Work started on the new factory site three weeks ago.

Gower View Foods director Jon Lewis told the Carmarthern Journal : “From our point of view, we are devastated and our thoughts go out to the family, friends, and all of those concerned.

“A 22-year-old young man has unfortunately been killed on site. It is tragic and a shocking bit of news.”

Lewis confirmed to the paper that local contractor Jones Brothers Henllan Ltd was working on the site.

He said: “We are heavily involved with the builders and are working very closely with them on the design and everything.

“They are a fantastic building company, so for us this is very sad.”
