Hocking will be responsible for driving growth at the £833m construction division, which comprises the infrastructure and building businesses. He will also join the group’s executive board.
A civil engineer, he joins Galliford Try from Skanska UK where he has enjoyed a successful career spanning 25 years.
In 2008 he was promoted to the role of executive vice president on the Skanska UK executive management team leading the civil engineering, piling and foundations, utilities and infrastructure services operations.
Hocking was also responsible for the strategic development and pre-construction functions of Skanska in addition to being the executive director responsible for health and safety.
He begins his new role on 1 September 2015.
