The Altair scheme will include a 43,000 sq ft leisure centre, 96,000 sq ft of retail and restaurants, coffee shops and cafes, a bowling alley, 150 apartments, 35,000 sq ft of offices and a car park.
Eric Wright Construction will start site preparation works this month while it awaits final planning for the 4.5 acre site located alongside the town’s ice rink and the new transport interchange.
Developer Nikal was granted outline planning permission for the site along Moss Lane and Oakfield Road last year. The first project will be a 59-flat scheme in addition to ground floor leisure retail space and a new entrance for the existing ice rink, which sits at the heart of the Altair scheme.
Nikal managing director Nick Payne said: “Eric Wright Construction has recently proved its capabilities on the smooth delivery of a high calibre mixed-use scheme in Hale Barns, just a few miles from Altrincham town centre.”
Eric Wright Construction managing director John Wilson added: “Altair will completely transform a prime town-centre plot and further strengthen its capabilities to generate significant inward investment.”
