The council has invited bids to build a new specialist needs school in Isleworth for 224 pupils with multiple learning difficulties.
The Gresham Road school designed by Pick Everard will have a floor area of 8,500m2 over three storeys and is targeted to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating.
Work on the 18-month long school build is expected to start next summer.
Expression of interest must be in by 17 November on the London Tenders portal.
Hounslow Council also plans to demolish Marjory Kinnon School, with teaching moved to a new purpose built primary and secondary SEN school on the site.
Cllr Tom Bruce, cabinet member for education and children’s services at the council, said: “We’ve already done a lot of work to provide extra SEN places, but with a growing population, we are going to need to do even more over the coming years.
“We are determined to make sure every child in the borough receives the best education possible, which is why I am pleased these plans have been agreed.”
