Builders using QuoteMyGoods are saving an average of 26% on materials as the internet brings buyers and merchants closer together.
The service works for all sizes of contract from domestic building projects all the way up to multi-million commercial and housing projects.
Contractors simply enter the materials needed for a project and the list is fired off to local merchants who come back with quotes.
The QuoteMyGoods system automatically compares the quotes and calculates the best deals, so contractors can simply choose their suppliers and arrange for deliveries in the normal way.
Former builder and co-owner of the website, John Long said: “Firms using our site have been amazed at the time and savings they’re making, and merchants are happy to be shifting more stock and winning new business.
“It’s a win:win for the entire industry, and by rewarding best market prices, our system is making a massive difference in the tight margin game of contracting.”
Contractors using the service can choose from a range of membership packages and pay between 3% and 5% for the saving they make; while merchants can sign-up free of charge.
Wick Developments has been using QuoteMyGoods to source materials for a job in Hackney to turn an old pub into 12 luxury flats.
The firm saved £2,800 on rebar at the start of the project and has since saved £9,589 on blocks and cement.
Director Alan Mahoney said: “I cant believe how simple the system is to use and how much money and time we are saving.”
