Work will start in April following the award by the Education Funding Agency.
Designed by architects Scott Brownrigg, the new building will provide places for 800 students aged 14-19.
Wates is also in line to develop two more UTC schemes for the EFA – London Design and Engineering in Becton providing and Bromley UTC.
The new build college for the Mulberry UTC Trust will include a 250-seat purpose-designed theatre, media suites a theatre construction and craft workshop and specialist health suites.

“Wates’ building will support the UTC in significantly raising employability in the creative, health and digital technology industries for young people in Tower Hamlets and surrounding boroughs.”
