Urban & Civic secured planning permission to build the 357-bed hotel with direct terminal access to London Stansted Airport, after buying a two acre site from MAG Property – the owners of Stansted Airport.
The eight-floor building will be located on Bassingbourn Road, and is set to become Hilton Worldwide’s largest Hampton by Hilton in Europe.
Contracts director Peter Devlin said: “McAleer & Rushe has established itself as the ‘go-to’ contractor for airport hotels because of our ability to provide design-led solutions for challenging locations.”
McAleer & Rushe also built the Hampton by Hilton London Gatwick Airport at Longbridge House by the North Terminal, the Hampton by Hilton Waterloo and also its Bournemouth hotel.
The Stansted hotel forms part of MAG’s £260m investment plan to attract more passengers, airlines and long-haul services to Stansted, the fastest growing airport in the UK.
