Construction of the 850m long road will begin in July and will take around 15 months to complete.
The City Link Road will transform Hereford’s city centre, creating the infrastructure to support 800 much needed new homes on the old Edgar Street grid site.
Five tenders were received for the contract and Griffiths was chosen by Herefordshire Council and its agent Balfour Beatty Living Places.
Councillor Philip Price, cabinet member for infrastructure, said: “I am happy to announce that Griffiths has been awarded the contract for the road; they are a local company and it’s good for all of us that we are employing a contractor who directly contributes to the local economy through the employment of local people.”
