Work is set to start on the former Ashford market site in Elwick Place this month after enabling works started at the end of last year.
Ashford Borough Council is funding construction of the new town centre complex, which marks another step forward in Ashford’s major regeneration project.
The Phase 1 of the Elwick Place development comprises the construction of a six screen cinema complex and a 58-bedroom hotel with eight restaurants and café outlets included.
Also a 280-space car park will be created alongside enhancements to the existing public realm areas which link Elwick Rd to the existing public footbridge which crosses the adjacent railway lines.
The second phase of the project will consist of around 200 flats.
It is anticipated that the construction programme will take in the order of 18-21 months.
