Trafford Council’s executive has approved an updated version of the Stretford Masterplan, which involves the proposed new university in and around the existing Kellogg’s building on Talbot Road.
The University Academy ’92 is part of a £170m investment plan in the area that will also see a leisure centre, flats and a hotel.
UA92 is the brainchild of former Manchester United teammates Gary Neville, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt and Phil Neville who are in collaboration with Lancaster University, Trafford Council, Microsoft, Trafford College and Bruntwood.
The new university will offer qualifications to students in business, media and sport. UA92 will open its doors to the first intake in September 2019 as a new campus of Lancaster University and will cater for 6,500 students by 2028.
