Record £30bn public works framework due out soon

The Government’s Crown Commercial Service has put the industry on alert for a recording-breaking Government works framework.

The vast public works framework will be available for use by central Government departments and all other public sector bodies, including local authorities, blue light services and devolved bodies.

It is the first time a construction works framework has been drawn up and follows the award of professional services and infrastructure consulting engineer frameworks finally awarded to consultants last year after long delays.

If taken up by major Government clients it could surplant a mass of frameworks presently in operation bringing to an end significant procurement duplication in England.

To engage further with the contracting market, the CCS is holding a market engagement event in Manchester next week to take on board views of its stakeholders and customers.

Detail of the planned lot structure for the framework will then be set out ahead of a formal invitation to tender in early April.

The anticipated framework duration will be up to 48 months with a possible extension to this period by 3 further years.

Manchester market engagement event

The conference will take place at Manchester Conference Centre on 14 February

Places are restricted to two for each contractor. To confirm interest in attending email CCS no later than Friday 9 February

  • Start time of the customer conference will be from 10am and registration will begin from 9:30am.
  • Start time of the supplier conference will be from 1pm and registration will begin from 12:30pm.
