The four-star hotel will support the city’s £50m Cruise Liner Terminal at Princes Dock, which is to be built by McLaughlin & Harvey, and will accommodate the world’s largest cruise ships
Wates will start construction of the hotel early next year, providing training and employment opportunities for local people as well as local supply chain partners.
Dave Saville, business unit director for Wates Construction North West, said: “Months of work have gone into the planning for the project in terms of its delivery and the added value it will create for local people and we look forward to bringing these plans to fruition in the coming months and years.”
Mayor of Liverpool Joe Anderson said: “Liverpool should be the premier cruise destination on the west coast of the UK and our new terminal will underpin that ambition and make it a reality.
“This hotel is critical to the plan to create a world-class experience for the cruise companies and their passengers.”
Construction of the new hotel was procured through Scape’s National Construction framework.
Wates’ design team includes Brock Carmichael as architects, Curtins as civil and structural engineers and Ramboll as mechanical and electrical engineers.
