Specialist contractor JRL starts piling and basement work this month on the 880,000 sq ft Consort Place project.
The two buildings will rise to 65 and 35 storeys. The largest east tower will feature 370 luxury apartments, a four-star 231-room hotel and modern health centre, while the west tower will be home to 125 affordable apartments.
The project also involves the reinstatement of the historic North Pole public house.
Consort Place project director for FEC, Bruno Almeida Santos, said: “As a developer, FEC saw scope to add to the local lifestyle by incorporating a range of on-site amenities for residents, visitors and local people. We believe that a responsible development such as this should put community at its heart to help it grow and thrive.”
Kevin Keegan, director at JRL Group, said: “It’s particularly exciting to be – quite literally – breaking new ground with FEC to bring to life a development which will invigorate the area, whilst protecting the legacy and integrity of its East End community-focussed roots.”
Both the residential properties and the hotel at Consort Place are designed by architects Pilbrow and Partners.
