Deployed to enforce mandatory speed limits, this TASCAR solution will feature Siemens Mobility’s HOTA (Home Office Type Approval) approved SafeZone system incorporating the company’s Sicore II ANPR camera.
Proven in applications worldwide, Sicore cameras provide industry-leading image quality and number plate read accuracy with the system able to process up to 2,500 fast-moving vehicles per lane per hour.
WJ Group Managing Director Wayne Johnston said: “This is an exciting opportunity for us to upgrade our safety enforcement cameras and better service our customers with industry leading technology.
“This strategic partnership with Siemens Mobility will no doubt stimulate ideas for further road safety improvements in line with our continual drive for innovation.”
Deploying ‘distance over time’ enforcement solutions at road works effectively controls traffic speed, especially where narrow lanes and contraflows impact on safety.
This risk management approach helps to protect vulnerable highway workers as well as providing smoother traffic flows and more reliable journey times for the road user.
Wilke Reints, Managing Director of Siemens Mobility’s Intelligent Traffic Systems business in the UK, said: “It was an easy decision to place our confidence in WJ’s contracting experience, resources and reputation for exceptional service delivery within the temporary traffic management sector.
“The partnership brings together the strength of two leaders in their respective markets and we are delighted to be supporting WJ with our intelligent highway infrastructure solutions. We look forward to working closely with them to safely deploy projects across the UK’s road network.”
The Siemens Mobility and WJ Group partnership will ensure that the installation, set up, validation and maintenance is supported by an experienced team of engineers, project managers and industry experts in TASCAR.
