Bidding starts for major HS2 subcontractor packages

HS2 main works civils contractors are starting to tee-up firms for key subcontract packages on the scheme.

A series of packages covering further multi-utility diversions, earthworks and drainage, and precast concrete for major structures are now out to bid.

HS2 Euston Station – Complex Multi Utility Diversionary Works

Expression of interest: 19 October 2020; award 5 April 2021

Mace Dragados is seeking expressions of interest from subcontractors to undertake complex utility diversion and protection works.

The scope of the £40m package consists of detailed design services and construction works covering large diameter sewer and water main diversions, and civils works enabling multiple electrical substation relocations and power cable diversions.

BBV HS2 MWCC North – Mainline Civils – Earthworks – Drainage Framework

Expression of interest: 16 October 2020; award 31 November 2021

Balfour Beatty Vinci are seeking to establish a supply chain for civils, earthworks and drainage works on its N1 and N2 contract packages leading to Birmingham.

BBV is aiming to establish a 2-year rolling preferred framework of subcontractors to deliver packages ranging in value from £50k – £20m across the mainline section.

HS2 C1 – Viaduct Precast Segment Formwork Cells

Expression of interest: 16 October 2020; award 14 December 2021

ALIGN JV  – Bouygues, VolkerFitzpatrick and Sir Robert McAlpine – is looking for a supplier for over 1000 precast segments for the 2.1 miles long Colne Valley Viaduct.

Each segment will be 13.5m wide, 3m long, 3m – 6.7m high weighing from 100t to 140t.

Three pre-casting formwork cells will be used to precast the viaduct segments over three years.

HS2 Main Civils Works S1 and S2 sectors – WP071_A_Pre-cast Concrete (Area West PCC elements)

Expression of interest: 14 October 2020; award 18 January 2021

Skanska, Costain, Strabag JV is on the hunt for suppliers to deliver precast concrete for various elements on its S1 and S2 contracts.

These include bridge beams for the River Pinn Underbridge and the Breakspear Road South Underbridge, ventilation shaft units for the Copthall Tunnel and culverts for several sections of the project.
