Building on Murphy’s expertise in the water sector, the project involves the detailed design, build and commissioning of four essential foul water and surface water sewer diversions in Birmingham, ahead of the upcoming HS2 works.
Work will start early next year and is planned to finish in July 2022. The project will include excavating a series of small tunnels as well as the construction of a new 3 metre diameter tunnel.
Tony Wilson, MD for Murphy’s Water business, said: “We’re really pleased to be on the framework and secure our first project.
“Our team is looking forward to getting started on the ground and using our expertise to get the job done safely and efficiently. The work we’re doing with Severn Trent is vital to support essential infrastructure for their customers in the Birmingham area.”
In 2019, Severn Trent named Murphy as one of the contractors to help them deliver a£2bn investment programme in the current AMP7 regulatory period.
