Barking regeneration company Be First signed off the next blocks with Willmott Dixon, known as ‘E2’, ‘F1’ and ‘F2’, which will create 382 new homes, including 57% affordable.
In the case of ‘E2’, this will see 159 homes constructed as part of the regeneration of Gascoigne East.
The £56m development will connect four blocks, with a courtyard situated between.
The £79m development of ‘F1’ and ‘F2’ provides a further 223 homes across five blocks, as well as public realm space and infrastructure for residents.
Willmott Dixon is currently constructing the £22m ‘C1’ block that comprises of 52 affordable homes and extensive infrastructure.
The firm is targeting a 40% cut in CO2 emissions from energy produced by the homes against what normally would be expected by Building Regulation, thanks to an array of rooftop photovoltaic cells and connection to the district heating system.
Chris Tredget, Managing Director for Willmott Dixon in London and East said: “We are delighted to begin work on the next part of Phase 2 and to continue working alongside Be First to create a fantastic new living environment for hundreds of people on the east side of Gascoigne Estate.”
The redevelopment of Gascoigne estate is part of a wider strategy to create a sense of ‘place’ for the area that includes attractive, tree-lined public spaces and the 5,000 square metre Gascoigne Square park.
