British Land has confirmed McLaren Construction as main contractor on Phase 2 of Aldgate Place where work will start on site in the third quarter of this year.

The 136,000 sq ft residential led, mixed‐use scheme located on London’s City fringe, will be the 27th project delivered by McLaren on behalf of British Land during a 13‐year partnership of projects that has included retail parks, industrial, offices, shopping centres and leisure developments.

The latest Aldgate development will include 159 premium Build to Rent apartments, 19,000 sq ft of offices and 8,000 sq ft of retail and leisure space.

McLaren will work with British Land to deliver a design which includes a comprehensive upgrade to the public realm with increased biodiversity and a focus on health and wellbeing.

John Butten, Managing Director ‐ Major Projects, McLaren Construction said: “We are immensely proud of the strong and professional relationship we share with British Land. Our mutual understanding and shared values have seen our project portfolio grow progressively over the last 13 years, when we’ve delivered 26 varied projects.

“We’re very excited to embark on our 27th project for British Land, starting later this year. Aldgate Place is an excellent showcase project for McLaren Construction. It demonstrates our speciality in delivering residential and mixed‐use schemes as well as projects with considerable complexities, that we’re able to address due to our expertise and commitment.”

McLaren has also landed a place on the British Land Contractor Panel, which is focused on remodelling the existing office and retail assets, with a project pipeline concentrated on small to medium scale redevelopment.

McLaren Construction is on a major recruitment drive following a string of contract wins as the economy continues to recover.

The contractor has teamed up with recruitment specialist Fawkes & Reece to identify great people to join the business. For more details about opportunities and how to get in touch click here.
