A series of recent framework wins helped North East civils contractor Applebridge Construction boost turnover and profits in its latest results.

Turnover at the civils and utilities specialist hit £62.5m for the year to April 30 2023 from £50.7m last time with pre-tax profits increasing to £5.4m from £3.5m.

The Middlesbrough based firm is part of the Applebridge Family group which also includes the ZTL earthworks division and specialist plant hire and utilities operations.

The group company is on track to top £100m in turnover this year for the first time in its history.

Applebridge Founder and CEO Donny Hughes said: “We are incredibly proud of how our component companies have thrived and propelled the Applebridge Family towards this remarkable milestone of surpassing £100 million in turnover.

“Our journey has been fuelled by the dedication of our remarkable team and our unyielding commitment to quality, relationships, and innovation.

“As we move forward, we remain devoted to delivering excellence in every project, strengthening client collaborations, nurturing our team’s professional growth, and driving innovation throughout the construction industry.”

Applebridge has sought to diversify its revenue stream by placing an increased focus on frameworks and has most recently been appointed to the Northern Education Trust procurement framework, Virgin Media O2’s Network expansion framework, Teesworks Reactive framework and YorCivils.
