Final £1bn levelling-up funding awarded to 55 projects

The government has handed out its final tranche of levelling up funding to 55 projects to transform high streets and improve transport links.

From the £1bn pot, £825m will help to kick-start regeneration in town centres with a further £150m allocated to develop better transport links.

These include breathing new life into treasured heritage and culture buildings in three former mining communities in Doncaster and essential funding needed to transform Blackpool town centre’s transport network.

Funding is spread across all corners of the country, with the North West receiving £128m, the North East £59m, Yorkshire and the Humber £169m and the Midlands £171m in total.

Since 2021, the two previous tranches of Levelling Up Fund has now released £3.8bn to 216 projects.
