W1 Construction was founded in 2022 by former Mace Commercial Director Barry Gavin and Associate Director Sam Walsh.

Florey has a wealth of experience with notable projects including Battersea Power Station, 1 Grosvenor Square and most recently 1 Mayfair.

Gavin said: “From day one the only person we wanted to head up operations was Liam after the three of us worked together at Mace.

“He’s the best of the best, a committed remarkable mind in our industry. To have him believe in our vision and want to build something special with us here at W1 is as humbling as it is exciting.”

Walsh added: “We vowed we would seek the best high quality solutions efficiently delivered for our client’s with a long term goal of being considered the best main contractor in London.

“To be that we must bring in the most exceptional people and that’s why today is so exciting.”

Florey will join the firm next week and W1 has plans to hit a £100m turnover in the next decade across the residential, commercial office, mixed use, hospitality and retail sectors.

Florey said: “I’m beyond impressed with everything Sam and Barry have achieved at W1 within their first few years and thrilled to be joining the business. The three of us have different, but highly complementary skills and we’ll apply and compound these towards delivering a unique service for our clients.
