VolkerFitzpatrick has been chosen by logistics developer Prologis UK to design and build five new distribution units at Prologis Park Hemel Hempstead, within Maylands Business Park.

Enabling works are now underway on the £30m scheme which is scheduled for completion in August 2025.

It is the second project VolkerFitzpatrick has worked on at Prologis Park Hemel Hempstead and once complete will see the Park grow by over 280,000 sq ft, with units ranging between 19,000 and 75,000 sq ft.

All of the new units have been designed with customer needs and sustainability in mind and will feature terraces, outdoor amenity areas and easy walking and cycling access for local communities.

The units will all include a rooftop solar array, target EPC A+ and BREEAM ‘’Outstanding” ratings, and will align with the UKGBC zero carbon in construction framework.

Stuart Deverill, managing director of VolkerFitzpatrick’s Building division, said: “I am delighted that VolkerFitzpatrick has been chosen to deliver this significant expansion. We have been working with Prologis for many years and our strong, collaborative approach has enabled us to deliver innovative and sustainable projects whilst setting new standards for workplace wellbeing.”

Martin Cooper, VP of Development Management, Prologis UK, added: “It’s great to be getting this latest construction project underway at Hemel Hempstead with our trusted partner VolkerFitzpatrick. In the first instance, our focus is on enabling earthworks, drainage and site access construction. I’m looking forward to seeing our designs come to fruition throughout 2024 on this gateway site for the town.”
