JRL Group’s main contractor Midgard is in line to deliver the transformation of 1950s-build Newcombe House tower at Notting Hill Gate in London.

Developer Beltane Asset Management has finally secured clearance from the London Mayor’s office for the local Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea to determine the planning.

A hoped-for positive decision from the Borough Council would end a 10-year long saga to redevelop the landmark residential site in West London.

The existing residential tower will be extended up by three floors with balconies fitted to one elevation

The way is now clear to agree a section 106 agreement that would allow demolition and major building work to start.

Designs retain, refurbish and extend the existing 12-storey structure, while alongside demolishing and constructing two lower level blocks on Kensington Church Street.

The redevelopment of the tower to 15 storeys will upgrade the existing workspace through the extension of the floor plate, addition of two new floors and the introduction of balconies and a roof terrace.

Part A will be a building overhaul and extension while b and c will be new build projects

A six-storey building on Kensington Church Street will offer large retail space on the ground floor and additional workspace on the upper floors, with landscaped terraces on each level of the western elevation.

The final eight-storey building will provide affordable housing and a medical centre, designed in collaboration with the NHS. A new landscaped square fronting Notting Hill Gate will establish an inviting and inclusive space.

The new buildings run along along 43-45 and 39-41 Notting Hill Gate and 161-237 Kensington Church Street
