McLaren Construction has appointed Glen Harding as Commercial Director supporting the growth of its new Construction Management and Specialist Projects division which is focused on large scale real estate and public sector projects.

Harding is the latest recruit from Sir Robert McAlpine where he spent the last six years as London Commercial Director.

Harding will report directly to Vince Lydon, Managing Director of the division which was set-up last Summer.

Lydon joined from McAlpine where he spent nine years in his previous role of Deputy Managing Director for London.

McLaren Construction Chief Executive Paul Heather also worked at McAlpine from 2017 to 2021 where he was London Managing Director.

Lydon said: “Glen brings a wealth of experience in construction management delivery, which is exactly what we’re looking for to strengthen this capability at McLaren and respond to client demand to effectively manage risk on construction projects.

“Construction management is a distinctive way of delivering large scale projects. This is why Glen will make an immediate impact as we pursue opportunities for growth both in London and the rest of the UK.”

Harding added: “McLaren’s resilient growth over the past couple of years makes it an attractive place to grow a construction management division, reducing client expenditures and improving timelines by overlapping the designs and early construction processes.”
