Steve Tarr, currently the divisional CEO of Power Transmission & Distribution, Rail, and Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick, will additionally serve as Group Sector Lead for UK Energy.

In this role, he will guide Balfour Beatty’s efforts in the UK energy market, which includes hydrogen, carbon capture, new nuclear energy, nuclear fusion, Small Modular Reactors, and offshore wind, while also enhancing the country’s electricity grid.

Nick Crossfield, presently CEO for regional civil and building, living places and the asset & technology solutions businesses, becomes Group Sector Lead – UK Defence.

Crossfield will have overall responsibility for the group’s interests spanning multiple customer interfaces such as Rolls Royce and BAE Systems.

Phil Clifton has been appointed Group Sector Lead – UK Transport, excluding HS2. He is also divisional CEO of Balfour Beatty’s Major Projects, Highways and Ground Engineering businesses.

Clifton will oversee the group’s interest in this significant market, building on Balfour Beatty’s core expertise across major Highways and Rail and harnessing the re-emerging medium to long term opportunities in the aviation market.

Leo Quinn, Balfour Beatty Group chief executive, said: “These leadership appointments further strengthen our ability to leverage our unique capability in critical UK growth markets, and build on Balfour Beatty’s leadership capability at a time of exciting growth for the group.”

All three will report directly to Quinn.
