The firm’s Building North West business is pressing ahead with the £39m new Market Hall and £4.6m basement enabling works under the scheme now branded ‘Fettlers’.
The work follows completion of initial enabling jobs and signals the start of full-scale building on site.
The Wigan Galleries overhaul is being delivered in partnership with developer Cityheart and aims to transform the town centre into a new mixed-use destination.
Later phases will deliver a six-screen cinema, a music and e-sports venue, a 10-lane bowling alley, indoor mini-golf, and a new hotel.
The masterplan also includes 464 homes, a modern market hall, food and drink venues, evening entertainment spaces, and a landscaped public square for outdoor events.
Galliford Try regional managing director Darren Parker said: “The redevelopment of Wigan Galleries will breathe new life into the town centre, creating a vibrant destination that will benefit residents, businesses, and visitors alike.”
