Ormiston Sudbury Academy – £45m rebuild approved

Bowmer & Kirkland will demolish and rebuild Ormiston Sudbury Academy in Suffolk after Babergh District Council signed off the £45m scheme. The school’s 1960s-era buildings will be flattened to make way for a new three-storey teaching block, separate sports hall and multi-use games area.

The existing Vocational Centre will be retained, with the rest of the site undergoing phased redevelopment to keep the school operational. Completion is expected by autumn 2028.

The scheme was selected for funding through the Government’s School Rebuilding Programme in 2022 due to the poor condition of existing buildings.

Ilkley Grammar School – £52m green light

In West Yorkshire, B+K will also deliver a £52m overhaul of Ilkley Grammar School after Bradford planners backed the project. The scheme will replace ageing sports and teaching blocks with new net-zero carbon buildings, including a pool, games areas and a new sports hall.

The Marshall Building will be refurbished, while Armitage and Bronte blocks will remain. The 9,000m² rebuild maintains the 1,972-pupil capacity and is set to consolidate the 16-building campus into a modern, accessible education estate.

Rosedale College, Hillingdon – £51m Bouygues win

Bouygues UK will lead the £51m transformation of the Rosedale College site in Hillingdon, London. The project includes demolitions, two new buildings, new sports fields, MUGAs, dining and social canopies, and new infrastructure.

The rebuild replaces outdated 1960s structures and will deliver modern teaching and sports facilities under the School Rebuilding Programme. Stride Treglown and NVB Landscape are on the design team.
