Plans have been lodged to deliver a new deep-water Southern Terminal at the Outer Harbour, including 350 metres of additional quay, a RoRo ramp, heavy lift pad and 10 hectares of reinforced storage space.
The port already plays a key role in delivering schemes such as Sizewell C and southern North Sea offshore wind developments, with demand surging from contractors and developers.
Port director Richard Goffin said: “We’re seeing real momentum behind major UK infrastructure and energy projects, and this expansion will ensure Great Yarmouth plays an even greater role.”
He added the terminal’s location gave it an edge over other east coast ports by avoiding tidal restrictions, shallow channels and road bottlenecks.
Peel Ports is aiming to secure planning consent by early 2026.
