Smedley joins the regional builder as strategic director, charged with turning divisions like Step Energy, Lawford Bespoke Joinery, plant and fleet, and concrete repairs into stand-alone business units.
He will also oversee the development of a new CCTV arm at the Rugby headquartered group.
The move is part of Stepnell’s wider plan to grow its service-led offering and broaden its reach across the UK.
Smedley brings more than 30 years’ experience from senior roles at major national contractors including Kier, Geoffrey Osborne, and most recently Brymor Group, where he was southern managing director.
Smedley said: “This is an exciting opportunity to drive the growth of Stepnell’s wider business portfolio. My aim is to help shape these services into self-sufficient, stand-alone units with strong management structures – capable of delivering outstanding service and commercial performance nationwide.”
