Faulkner spent 27 years at Skanska – the last ten as executive vice president – before leaving in a boardroom reshuffle last December.
He will succeed Mark Baxter, Executive Board member and Divisional Managing Director of Specialist Services at Galliford Try who is retiring at the end of the year.
Bill Hocking, Chief Executive of Galliford Try, said: “Mark has played an instrumental role in the Group’s success, overseeing the growth of our Investments and FM businesses; the successful sale of Rock and Alluvium, and gearing up Digital Infrastructure, Asset Intelligence and Oak for the next part of our Sustainable Growth Strategy.
“We have carefully planned for Mark’s departure, which reflects his long-term plan to retire and thank him for his excellent contribution to Galliford Try over many years.
“We are pleased to welcome Thomas, with his broad experience, to Galliford Try and congratulate him on his appointment. He joins our business at a very exciting time and I look forward to working with him as our Sustainable Growth Strategy to 2030 continues to build momentum.”
Faulkner added: “Galliford Try is a well-respected company with a good culture, the right values, and great people. I have been impressed by the consistent growth of the business over recent years, and its track record of project delivery and repeat work, achieved by a fantastic team.
“The Group has a solid foundation to continue to hit its strategic objectives and there is a real sense of positivity and optimism that is inspiring. I am delighted to be joining Galliford Try and its Specialist Services business at this pivotal time and look forward to working together to drive continued success.”
