Newport-based Premier Forest bought NTS from administrators following the collapse of National Timber Group England in late November.
The deal safeguards 160 jobs across NTS, with Premier Forest aiming to grow the workforce to around 250 as it looks to expand capacity and product innovation.
NTS supplies national and regional house builders alongside the construction and modular sectors, with a range of engineered timber products including panelised roof system, roof trusses, engineered joists and specialist roof and floor cassette solutions.
Co-founder and chief executive Terry Edgell said: “With our strategic experience in timber and long-term financial stability, we see National Timber Systems as an excellent fit for Premier Forest.
“NTS aligns with and enhances our existing Mon Timber Engineering offer within the Premier group, and broadens our engineered timber solutions for customers across the country.”
The transaction covers NTS operations in Bristol, Newcastle and Catterick and follows Premier Forest’s recent purchase of the Arnold Laver sites in Manchester and Reading from the administrators of National Timber Group England.
The collapse of National Timber Group England sent shockwaves through the sector two months ago. The Sheffield-based supplier, founded in 1920 by Arnold Laver, employed more than 1,000 staff and operated a national network under brands including Arnold Laver, National Timber Systems, SV Timber and NORclad.
Latest accounts showed the England division turning over nearly £200m in 2023 but posting pre-tax losses of £6.3m.
