Forthspan – bringing together Balfour Beatty, BAM Nuttal, Morgan Sindall and MT Hojgaard – and Forth Crossing Bridge Constructors – comprising Dragados, Hochtief, American Bridge International and Morrison – are bidding to become the principal contractor on Scotland’s biggest project.
The final tender prices for the cable-stayed bridge are expected to come in between £0.9bn and £1.2bn.
Transport Scotland will now assess the final submissions and bring the year-long bidding process to a close in April when it names the winner.
Work will then start immediately on the bridge, which is expected to create more than 3,000 construction jobs.
Last Friday representatives from more than 150 firms attended a project meeting to hear about subcontracting opportunities on the project.
Allowing for several other related works contracts the total estimated cost of the entire Forth Replacement Crossing project is put between £1.7bn and £2.3bn.
Gary Robinson, from the Scottish Government’s procurement directorate, said interested subcontractors should register with the Public Contracts Scotland website to obtain details of tendering opportunities.
Transport minister Keith Brown said: “Both consortia bidding are led by world-class bridge building and civil-engineering firms with strong records of successfully delivering similar projects throughout the world.
“The project remains on target to be completed, within budget, in 2016.”
