Designed by architect BDP, the redevelopment consists of a new station, car park, footbridge and platform canopies.
The project is intended to improve capacity at the station and provide better facilities for passengers.
The scheme is the first phase of Network Rail’s plans for the station area, which include building a 20,000m2 commercial scheme known as the Station Gateway.
This incorporates a series of brownfield sites along the River Nene in Northampton town centre and has the potential to deliver 750,000 sq ft of commercial development.
