Betting Spy: Manchester 2 London 0 pays 3/1

Some of the biggest football matches of the week have been in the High Court as Spurs continue to slug it out with West Ham over the Olympic Stadium.

Fair play to the Totenham legal team – they are having a blinder.

It seems that Spurs will eventually drop their Olympic case in return for a decent amount of public cash to help with new stadium building plans in North London.

Now that’s what you call a result in these straightened times.

While benefits are being slashed, libraries are closing and spending plans ripped-up, the Government is going to hand over a public subsidy to a private company which pays some of its staff more than £50,000 a week and has slapped a £50m price tag on its best midfielder.

I’m sure there are lots of deserving cases in Tottenham following the recent riots. I’m just not sure whether Harry and his boys should be at the front of the queue.

But enough about politics. Let’s get down to some money making of our own and see who stands out on this weekend’s coupons.

And the call seems to be backing Manchester against north London as City visit Spurs and Utd play host to Arsenal.

Backing both Manchester sides in a double with Paddy Power pays a shade under 3/1 and that’s a price which looks attractive considering the form of all the sides involved.

City are flying and the trip to White Hart Lane will hold little fear with the hosts coming off their second half battering at Man Utd and Harry Redknapp already moaning about injuries.

Arsenal had a great result in Italy this week but it could so easily have gone the other way if that penalty had gone in.

Sir Alex’s men are too strong at home to be troubled by Wenger’s young guns so we’ll have a bit of the double and play up some of our Liverpool winnings from last week.

On the West Ham front it’s good to see Big Sam upholding club traditions with his first cup humbling at the hands of mighty Aldershot.

Perhaps it’s time to follow the Spurs route and apply for a Government grant for the nippy striker and fleet-footed winger we are crying out for.
