Interserve has been relegated from the biggest lots of a £1bn framework covering South East & Mid Wales.

Interserve has been dropped to first reserve on the three largest lots of the South-east and mid-Wales Collaborative Construction Framework (SEWSCAP) 3 deal covering contracts from £5m to £100m.

The latest deal sees Bouygues, Midas, Wynne and Sons and Speller Metcalfe make the frame.

Laing O’Rourke also lost its place on the biggest lot covering contracts from £25m – £100m while Dawnus also dropped out after going bust.

The prized four-year framework is used by over 20 Welsh councils and public bodies for schools and public building works.

Its range has been extended this time round to cover smaller regional work packages from £250,000 to £1.5m with regional places going to:

  • Kier
  • Knox and Wells
  • Ian Williams
  • Speller Metclafe
  • WRW Construction
  • Graham Facilities Management
  • Midas

A temporary buildings framework for jobs up to £100m was also awarded with full details in the table below alongside the main SEWSCAP 3 national lots winners.

A spokesman for Interserve said: “Interserve Construction remains on the framework for lots from £1.5m to £5m and are reserve on the remaining lots above £5m and is glad to remain trusted partner of South-east and mid-Wales Collaborative Construction Framework.”

Rob Williams, Morgan Sindall Construction’s area director for Cardiff, said: “We’ve worked through SEWSCAP since its inception.

“Over almost a decade, we have developed excellent relationships with both our customers who count on the framework, and with subcontractors and consultants in the supply chain, crucial to the success of our projects.

“Collectively, we’ve built impressive, modern primary and secondary schools which are enabling a genuine step change in the delivery of education across the country.

“Across the UK we’re also a construction partner of choice for universities looking to improve their estate, and for local authorities investing in leisure facilities and community projects.

“We’re looking forward to bringing that know-how to bear in Wales through this latest iteration of SEWSCAP and proud to continue our tenure on it.”

In the last twelve Morgan Sindall Construction has delivered six schools through the SEWSCAP framework under the auspices of the Welsh Government’s 21st Century Schools programme.
