The Government has published its long term wish list of more than 800 projects.

Around 500 are infrastructure investment projects and programmes across both the public and private sectors, with the government construction pipeline covering a further 300 non-infrastructure projects.

Treasury chief secretary Danny Alexander will chair a new cabinet committee on infrastructure.

The new cabinet committee will “will ensure that all parts of government play their part in tackling planning and regulatory delays and addressing key commercial and policy issues.”

Infrastructure projects under £50m have been excluded from the plan to focus on significant investment.
