Nationwide Platforms has now reopened 15 training centres throughout the UK to provide a range of working at height training, including IPAF’s 3a and 3b Boom and Scissor Lift Training.

It will also be offering IPAF’s 1b Static Boom and PAL+ courses as well as PASMA’s Tower Training at the majority of the locations.

To ensure delegates and trainers remain safe at all times, Nationwide Platforms has carried out a comprehensive risk assessment of its training centres and implemented a range of procedures and safety measures.

Key changes include:

  • Sanitising and preparing work areas and equipment before and after use
  • Health screening of candidates before undertaking the course
  • The use of a Quill Hurricane sanitising system which is a highly effective measure for providing protection against Coronavirus, for up to 14 days
  • Reducing the number of delegates on a course
  • Providing additional personal protective equipment
  • Where possible, ensuring delegates complete learning online
  • New measures to ensure social distancing is maintained
  • Limiting the number of people in the platform basket to one

Dan Smith, UK Training Director at Nationwide Platforms, said: “Safety is our number one priority and for that reason we have been very careful not to rush the decision to resume our training before we were able to put measures in place that protected our customers and employees.

“We are confident this has been achieved and with job sites starting to re-open it is crucial that workers are properly trained and safe to operate the machinery on site.”

As part of adhering to industry best practice, Nationwide Platforms has also adopted IPAF’s advice on COVID-19 safe training which encourages delegates to wash hands frequently, maintain hygienic etiquette when coughing or sneezing, avoid touching their face and maintain social distancing.

Delegates are also encouraged to remain at home if they are unwell or showing potential signs of the virus.

The list of depots currently offering training include: Glasgow, Edinburgh, Durham, Leeds, Warrington, Birmingham, Leicester, Nottingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Taunton, Wellingborough, Uxbridge, Dicot and Southampton.
