Taylor Wimpey wants bidders for £30m Battersea block

A Taylor Wimpey joint venture is looking for contractors to bid for a £30m commercial and residential job in south London.

The York Road and Winstanley Regeneration LLP is a joint venture between the London Borough of Wandsworth and Taylor Wimpey redeveloping the Winstanley and York Road Estates in Battersea.

The overall scheme comprises a number of community buildings, retail and amenity spaces and 2,290 mixed-tenure residential units.

The JV is seeking interest from suitably experienced and competent building contractors to undertake the design and construction of the existing RIBA Stage 4 design to build completion (end of RIBA Stage 6) for the second phase of the scheme (Block 5).

Work will include provision of commercial space and circa 132 residential units across three residential blocks and associated external works.

The forecast construction cost for Block 5 is £30m and the contract will be a JCT Design & Build 2016 with Employer’s amendments.

The JV LLP said: “We invite expressions of interest from suitably qualified, competent and experienced contractors.

“All respondents to this notice will receive a pre-qualification questionnaire to be subsequently completed and returned in order to be considered for the competitive tender process, on completion of which the construction works package will be awarded.”

Expressions of interest must be made before November 9 with prequal questionnaires due to be issued on November 20.

Questionnaires will have to be returned by December 4 with invitations to tender issued on January 11 2021 ahead of an April 1 return date and winner announced on June 14.

The JV LLP added: “The building contractors should be aware that both mid and post tender interviews will take place within the periods above.”

Expressions of interest must be submitted by email by 12:00 noon on Monday 09 November 2020.

As a minimum, expressions of interest must contain the full company name and postal address, along with a contact name, email address and telephone number.

Any expression of interest received after 12pm on Monday 09 November 2020 or which does not comply with the above requirements will not be considered for the contract.
