Wates has promoted Dan Sadler to the role of offsite manufacturing director for its Coventry-based business, Prism.

Sadler, previously operations director for Wates Construction in the Midlands, brings more than 15 years’ experience in managing and delivering complex building services.

He will now head up Wates’ Prism business, and focus on expanding its offering by developing innovations that can support greater use of offsite, and other modern methods of construction.

This expansion will form a key part of Wates’ restructured approach to delivering building services, announced earlier this year.

Since joining Wates nearly two years ago, Sadler has overseen major projects including Eden School for Boys in Birmingham, and the landmark Sandwell Aquatics Centre.

He was also responsible for the development of the region’s M&E offering.

Previously he worked as an operations manager at NG Bailey where he was responsible for leading large technical building services projects in both private and public sectors.

Rob Clifford, managing director of Wates Integrated Construction Services, said: “Dan has made a huge impact on our business since joining, and his passion for finding new, better ways to deliver building services is exactly what we look for in all our senior leaders.”

The Prism business, which last year relocated its manufacturing facility from York to larger premises in Coventry, has been a part of Wates Construction since its acquisition of Shepherd Engineering Services in 2015.

Sadler said: “Offsite technology excites me – it can deliver projects faster, safer, to higher quality standards and with added value – particularly relevant to builds in the public sector.

“By investing in research and embracing innovation we can help deliver better buildings, and I look forward to supporting this through my new role.”
