HS2 looks for £47m station systems supplier

HS2 has started the search for a single supplier of public address, customer information, fire detection and alarm systems for its four major stations in phase one.

While the station will be built by four separate contractors, HS2 hopes to leverage savings by using common components at all four stations.

This should be more efficient in terms of integration, operation and long-term maintenance.

The £47m Station Building Systems framework will include:

• Public Address / Voice Alarm (PAVA);
• Fire Detection and Alarm System;
• Building Energy Management System (BEMS);
• Lighting Control System (LCS);
• Customer Information System (CIS); and
• Station Information Management System (SIMS).

The framework supplier will be expected to work collaboratively with HS2 Ltd and Phase One Station Contractors.

A shortlist is expected to be announced in summer 2021 with contract award in early 2022.

Andrew Cubitt, HS2’s Stations and Phase 2 Procurement Director, said: “As well as welcoming millions of passengers every day, our new stations in London and the West Midlands will also help unlock wider local regeneration, new jobs, homes and opportunities for the communities they serve.”

“While our Phase One station contractors will build the four stations separately, in terms of value for money and operational benefits, it does make sense to buy some elements in common.”
