Laing O’Rourke has been confirmed as main contractor on the latest nine-storey office building at the £8bn White City regeneration scheme.

Developer Stanhope, Mitsui Fudosan and AIMCo said construction will start immediately on 1 Wood Crescent on the west side of the Television Centre campus.

The £60m building will offer 111,765 sq ft of prime office space and will include multiple terraces as well as a ground floor reception and café, all with views over Hammersmith Park and the surrounding White City area.

It has been designed by architects Morris + Company and construction is due to be completed in early 2023.

Around 70% of the contract will be completed by  Laing O’Rourke’s in-house specialist trading businesses, and the build will rely heavily on  the company’s DfMA (Design for Manufacture and Assembly) approach.

Components,  including twin wall, columns, stairs, facades and MEP plant, will be digitally designed  and precision manufactured off site before being assembled on site in White City.

This  means the CAT A fit-out can take place just two floors below the floor slabs as  construction progresses upwards.

A lease agreement has been signed with PVH Corp – parent company to brands including Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger – to relocate its UK headquarters to the top five floors.

Jonathan Trout, Property & Commercial Director at Stanhope, said: “Television Centre has undergone a remarkable transformation in recent years and PVH’s presence at Television Centre, in their new building 1 Wood Crescent, will help build on the continued success of the site and further enhance its already vibrant atmosphere.”

Céire O’Rourke, Director of UK Clients & Markets at Laing O’Rourke said: “We are  delighted to have exchanged contracts with Stanhope and excited to be starting on  site this month.

“Our engineers and construction workforce will now apply the power of  their experience to deliver a stunning building and state-of-the-art work space for  people.

“White City is an iconic London location and we are proud to be contributing to  Stanhope’s redevelopment of it – which is creating a vibrant community in the area.”

PVH will be the latest in a growing list of existing fashion and creative occupiers at Television Centre and White City Place, including the BBC and ITV Studios, BBC Worldwide, Publicis Media, Ralph & Russo, Yoox-Net-A-Porter, Soho House and the White Company.
