£270m Ealing civic centre and flats scheme approved

Vistry Partnerships has got the green light from local planners to build a new civic centre for London’s Ealing council alongside nearly 500 flats.

The scheme, which sparked controversy because of the associated 26-storey block of flats, will now be referred to the Mayor of London.

Under the plans, the council’s existing offices and car park at Perceval House will be redeveloped to create a new civic hub on Uxbridge Road.

This will include smaller council offices, a new library, and a purpose-built Customer Service Centre.

Of the new homes, 50% will be affordable and offered in a range of tenures to meet local need, including London affordable rent and discount market rent.

The flats will be spread across six new residential buildings, designed by renowned architect Patel Taylor. Structural consultant AKS Ward and MEP consultant Mecserve are also involved with the scheme, which will be delivered in three phases.

Vistry Partnerships’ London Developments business was selected as Ealing Council’s preferred development partner for the site in 2017.

Matthew Taylor, managing director of Vistry Partnerships London Developments, said that the approval was the culmination of 18 months of pre-application engagement with Ealing Council’s planning and design officers, the GLA, Historic England and a Design Review Panel.
