The development by British entrepreneur John Caudwell, is located at the former Audley Square car park. It will be transformed into 29 residences with completion scheduled for late 2025.
The building has been designed by New York-based architect Robert AM Stern and the façade will be finely crafted with inspiration taken from Mayfair’s heritage.
Integral to the design is a Portland stone façade with beautiful balustrades, ornamental fretwork etched onto the frontage and curved balconies.
EDM’s contract comprises the construction of the building façade and external envelope including the handset Portland stone elements, stone faced precast balconies, soffits and granite plinth stonework.
It will start on site this month.
Construction work by PJ Carey on the substructure and superstructure of the development is currently well underway. Careys are implementing a rare hybrid basement methodology, taking a top-down and open-cut approach that will reduce project duration.
Construction work will include 432 secant piles alongside 111 bearing piles to hold the structure in place. The piling work will conclude in May.
Richard Bosson, Director, Caudwell, said: “We are thrilled to have awarded EDM the façade contract. The intricate façade is one of the most exciting parts of our building, so it was important for us to appoint a firm with the technical expertise in delivering exquisite quality. We look forward to seeing our vision for the Mayfair development brought to life.”
Xavier Hunter, Director and Co-Founder of EDM London, said: “EDM is very proud and honoured to be awarded this façade contract and to be given the opportunity to work with Caudwell. Taking part in the design and procurement of the Mayfair development showcases our ability to assemble a team of experts, designers, engineers and stone masons, all masters of their trade, to deliver an exceptional project.”
