The Crown Commercial Service has picked 29 firms for spots on a mega offsite construction framework for all Government departments.

Among mainstream contractors Kier in partnerships with McAvoy and Metek features alongside Laing O’Rourke and Bowmer + Kirkland’s 2D offsite arm.

From the big-name offsite specialist Algeco has secured places on the big building estates, including schools, defence and justice lots.

The agreement will run for 4 years with the possibility of a 3-year extension and there is no maximum duration for call off contracts.

John Welch, Deputy Director of Construction at CCS, said: “This new framework will support the public sector in the design, delivery and commissioning of a whole range of offsite construction projects in the coming years, including social housing, new schools and hospital extensions.

“These projects, and the many more which will come, have the potential to improve services and the lives of millions of people.

“It is yet another example of how CCS is helping the public sector to support the government’s construction strategy and further supports the recently published refresh of the Construction Playbook with its MMC guidance note. ”
